• The drum will not spin or spins slowly

  A drain restriction the control has detected, worn carbon brushes on an older motor, or a broken lid switch on a top loader. The machine is usually protecting itself rather than broken.

• The machine walks across the floor

  Worn suspension rods or shock absorbers letting the tub swing wide. Leveling alone will not correct this, and running it as it is will damage the outer tub over time.

• A loud grinding on the spin cycle

  Tub bearings. On many front loaders this is a substantial job, so we will price it against the value of the machine and tell you honestly which way we would go.

• Water stays in the drum

  A blocked pump filter, a coin or wire caught at the pump inlet, or a drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe. We check the simple causes first, in that order.
